Becoming a lecadet
But don't mistake our generosity for leniency – our screening process is rigorous, ensuring that only the most motivated and suitable candidates are selected.
The lecadet program is taught by senior ex-career legal support professionals with a focus on practical experience, equipping you with the necessary skills for legal support roles across a range of in-demand roles like secretaries, administrators, personal assistants, executive assistants and receptionists.
Acquire essential legal support skills ranging from understanding legal terminology, using legal software to executing administrative duties. Our comprehensive curriculum covers everything from document preparation to client interaction, research methodologies, and appointment scheduling.
Through the lecadet program, gain valuable skills and knowledge essential for excelling in legal support roles, alongside the opportunity to work with some of the biggest and most prestigious law firms in Australia.
We open applications for multiple Program Intakes throughout the year. Check here for current openings.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds as diversity and inclusion is at the forefront of our mantra.
The lecadet program is best suited to individuals with at least 1 years of professional experience (does not have to be in the legal field), noting that 87% of our lecadet are career changers! Above all, we seek individuals who exhibit potential, a willingness to learn, and a genuine passion for embarking on a new career path within the legal industry. Our primary prerequisites are eligibility to work in Australia.
Given the rigorous nature of our specialised training, we carefully select individuals who are prepared for 4 weeks of intensive full-time training. While prior experience in legal support is not mandatory, we do look for certain essential skills, including self-development, intellectual acumen, adaptability, inquisitiveness, integrity, problem-solving capabilities, and a collaborative mindset.
Once you’ve submitted an application, our assessment process comprises two stages evaluating communication skills, problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and aptitude for learning. Successful completion of each stage qualifies applicants to progress to the subsequent phase. Here's what to expect:
